Description
Gitane DG-255 Selmer-Maccaferri Style Jazz Guitar
The Gitane DG-255 Selmer-Maccaferri Style Jazz Guitar is a toneful time machine. The super-wide bridge, oval soundhole, and slotted head have a totally modern feel but were actually all found on Django Reinhardt’s guitar of the 1930s. Its huge top with light bracing made possible by the long bridge was loud enough to be heard unamplified with his Quintet of the Hot Club of France. Select solid spruce top, longer scale length, and rosewood back and sides produce resonant, bright punch. Ebony body binding with triple maple/walnut purfling, mahogany neck with ebony fretboard, bone nut with zero fret, compensated moveable center on the bridge, nickel-plated open-geared tuners, adjustable truss rod, and trapeze tailpiece combine to make this a piece of jazz history brought to new, brilliant life.
