Ibanez JBM27 Jake Bowen Signature Electric Guitar – A Modded RGA For The Man Himself!
Jake Bowen from Periphery has teamed up with Ibanez to create a range of signature guitars ideal for metal players. The JBM27 is a fierce piece. It’s fast, strong and has a subtle style that’s classy and suits most styles. This 7 string version is ideal for djent too.
The Wizard Neck is the neck for shredders – 19mm thickness at 1st fret and 21mm at the 12th means this thing plays fast, seriously fast. Gotoh® MG-T Machineheads give this guitar incredible tuning stability so you can drop tune as far as you need to without worrying about losing tension and the tremelo can take some serious bending without falling out of tune.
Titan Pickups
Jake Bowen is one of the new generation of guitarists on the cutting edge of progressive rock. His sound is helping to redefine rock guitar, and his pickups play a major part. The Titan™ Neck and Bridge Model pickups were developed for his new signature guitar by Ibanez. Jake’s bridge pickup is crucial to his sound, and the most important feature is that it needed to be tight. It also needed to have good dynamics for right-hand playing yet still keep the aggressiveness and mid-range that Periphery’s music calls for. The Titan™ Bridge Model is at home with both standard and dropped tunings. Additionally, Jake shares that “it’s a very tight, aggressive palm-muted sound when I do palm-muting strokes but — when I play open chords — everything rings out very nicely”.
Edge Zero bridge
The Ibanez Edge Zero or ZR2 Tremolo is a double locking tremolo that features the zero point system that keeps the tremolo unit flat (at the zero point). This system eliminates the hassle of tuning, which is a shortcoming of the floating tremolo, providing a more comfortable playing experience. The Edge-Zero uses knife edge and ZR2 uses ballbearings for pivots.
Here’s what Ibanez have to say
Jake Bowen’s newest signature guitar, the JBM27, was based off the RGA shape, featuring a beautiful arched body. The combination of the matte black finish, black hardware and gold machineheads helps create a striking look, but the guitar offers so much more than just aesthetics. A beautifully layered Maple-top Mahogany body provides a warm tone with rich resonance and the Maple neck is also painted in a matched matte black finish, offering both sophisticated looks and a smooth feel. The guitar also features Jake’s signature DiMarzio® Titan™ pickups. The bridge pickup sounds tight and aggressive, with good dynamic response for right-hand technique. It also gives plenty of the mid-range needed for Periphery’s music. The neck pickup is punchy and fat sounding without getting muddy – good for both leads and cleans. It is also equipped with Gotoh® MG-T Locking machineheads for great tuning stability.
